SCHEISSENBEDAUREN

SCHEISSENBEDAUREN is the feeling of regret one experiences when things you expect to suck do suck, but do not suck as much as you would secretly like them to suck. There is a related concept called KLEINEBEDAUREN. This is the feeling of being emotionally shortchanged when something you expect to suck briefly attains the levels of suckiness that you desire, only to then retreat to a more ordinary level of suckiness. (Think of some minor medical procedure you had to have done, for which you had spent all day working yourself up.)

My therapist says this is not a real word in German. I wonder what lead someone, then, to make this word up. What circumstances. That I wonder. Click here if you have a therapist too.
