Weird film. Strange, dark lighting. Blue rain. If Munch were alive today. Damp, eccentric, disturbed . Like Fassbinder doing Peter Greenaway. But on the questionable side, the characters are all somewhat stereotypes. A bit like one of those 80’s blue jeans commercials where there’s a lot of waify long haired eurofags–blue jeans, long dark hair–wait, no, I’m not describing Barcelona today. I mean like you saw on your TV in the 80’s. Outwardly manic French guy with some mixed blood throwing everybody around. Nietzschean French male hard-ass whose gay lover is a cry baby. Transvestite black sheep–oh come on, you’ve got one in YOUR family. Okay now that’s getting back more to F and G, maybe more G. Wow this movie has a lot of characters. And you get to know them all pretty well actually. Whether the story does anything for you or not, you can’t deny there is an intensity and weightiness to the–let's just say it takes itself pretty damn seriously. AND it’s an honest effort. Lot of small cars. For a film about trains?
