Strange little film. One of the more peculiar films about donkeys I’ve seen. Tells the famous fairy tale about the girl who escapes her father by using a donkey skin as a cloaking device. Oh, you haven’t heard of that one? Well, that sounds like a personal problem to me. God Catherine Deneuve is beautiful, for a white woman. God that prince was attractive, for a royal twit in a red prince outfit. At least it wasn’t Gerard Depardieu, we can all give thanks. But really, the scene where all the town’s women are trying on the ring is probably the best in the film, and alone is worth the price of admission. Eight dollars I think.
