It’s not bad. For a modern, filled-to-the-brim cinephile this film is not essential, the story doesn’t have the storytelling edge of later and less American film noir (Welles, Dassin, Becker, others). But as an archive of an era (the late 40’s) and an example of pre-noir American filmmaking, I can’t say it’s not worth watching. I can’t say that.
