It’s not bad. For a modern, filled-to-the-brim cinephile this
film is not essential, the story doesn’t have the storytelling edge of
later and less American film noir (Welles, Dassin, Becker, others). But as an
archive of an era (the late 40’s) and an example of pre-noir American
filmmaking, I can’t say it’s not worth watching. I can’t
say that. |
