Buńuel bite. Couple of sarcastic anti-religious (anti-hypocrisy) jibes.

Like Lars von Trier in being crafty. In manipulating you to want what you shouldn’t want. The film, like __________ merely helps you “reveal your true nature.”

The film has major tonal swings, which I seriously doubt are by accident.

1:30 – the entire interaction tween the dead man’s brother and [main character] represents the struggle within the film’s narrative itself (born from film convention) between seriousness, industrial, causal-sequential versus meandering-inconsequential, subconscious, non-sensical. Tavernier is so having us on.

2:00 – the same thing – the girl wants resolution (and so do we!), but he makes her (and us!) listen to a stupid story about dogs.
