Fun, action thriller with refreshing and low-key sense of irony. Grant delivers his usual solid performance. Audrey Hepburn gives her lines as if she’s giving a dress rehearsal with script in hand. Yet one could argue the role calls for precisely that sense of innocence and hesitation as though she were a lead in a romantic comedy dropped accidentally into a spy thriller. In other words, say one bad thing about Audrey Hepburn, and I punch your lights out. Her going for the lollipop in the phone booth is one of the sweetest moments I’ve ever seen.

Walter Mathau is hilarious as a CIA agent more pre-occupied with finishing his sandwhich than solving the crime and seems to predict Peter Falk’s similar antics as Columbo.

The film doesn’t take itself too seriously. And so I won't either. The lines are often corny but at the same time genuinely clever and funny. Sort of a thinking man’s Austin Powers.
