Never mind picture quality issues. Because of 24-hr news and other live broadcasts, the TV becomes a companion and a connection with the outside world. And I would be quick to not discount the natural biological stimulation of seeing another human being on the screen talking directly to you. The internet on the other hand is like a bunch of nice eggs which someone has laid for you to go and pickup. But the egg layer is not really there. At least that’s how it seems now. Of course, I am not talking about chatting or making phone calls online. That is different.
