Lora: How is the internet changing our listening experience? How is it changing your recording and songwriting experience?

Sam Beam: Well, there are a lot of aspects to that question. I think the internet is the rebirth of the single. People listen to music with a lot less patience. I skip around and listen just to songs I want to hear instead of sitting around with a record. In one sense you hear a lot of songs that you like which is always fun! I'm guilty of that too. Hearing a band's single and moving on to the next thing. But at the same time I Like the idea of making a record, of a piece, where you listen to it beginning to end and feel like you went on a musical journey if you will. That can be lost and that's a shame.
